Arrival & Drop-Off
Only one adult may accompany his/her Preschool student into the building upon arrival. Students will need to enter through the Preschool door on the west side of the building, and may be dropped off at the classroom door. Adults must wear a facial covering and have their temperature checked at the entrance. If any person has a temperature greater than 100.0°F, then he/she will not be allowed to enter the building.
Health Screenings
Staff and teachers are required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming onto campus each day. Each day parents must ensure they do not send a child to school if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or has had direct/close contact with an individual who is positive with COVID-19 until the 14-day incubation period has ended. Both the parent and the student will have their temperature checked with a no-touch, digital thermometer. If any person has a temperature greater than 100.0°F, then he/she will not be allowed to enter the building. If any student has a temperature greater than 99.0°F, he/she may be checked throughout the day.
Face Coverings
At LIGHT BLUE, L2, face coverings will be required for all faculty, staff, and visitors while on campus (exceptions may occur when faculty/staff are alone in a classroom or work space, outdoors, or when teaching with at least a 6’ distance from students). Preschool students will only wear face coverings at the preference of their parents. Please notify your teacher as to your family’s desires, and our faculty will do their best to help your student with his/her face covering. For more information, please see our Face Covering Guidelines. (https://www.dropbox.com/s/598q9ztychyvw42/Face%20Mask%20Policy.pdf?dl=0)
Before Care
Our Before-Care program is available starting at 7:15 am for parents who need it. Drop-off and arrival procedures are the same as outlined above, and social distancing protocols will be in place. We ask parents to understand that students in Before-Care will have an “expanded” neighborhood because of potential contact with other students from other classes. While this is normally considered a positive, during this season, we try to minimize contact with students outside their neighborhoods and/or classes.
Attendance
RCS will be more lenient regarding illness-related absences for the 2020-2021 academic year. If your child is ill, please keep him/her home, and let the nurse on your campus know by 9:00 am. We are blessed to have two full-time RN’s for our students.
Classrooms
Classrooms have been intentionally arranged for maximum social distancing. Each class will have “neighborhoods” of 2-4 students (which the CDC calls “cohorting”). This group will be able to work together for group learning. Where classroom supplies are needed, students will have individually assigned supply kits. Each child will be asked to bring a water bottle, a beach towel, and a sleepy friend (for naptime).Students will be in a single classroom throughout the day, and teachers will rotate to the classrooms to minimize student movement. Teachers will also be having class outside (weather permitting) at various times throughout the day.

Visitors
Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot allow outside visitors to the classrooms. This policy will be reviewed monthly.
Lunch
Classes will have the option to have lunch in their room, to eat outside (weather permitting), or in the multipurpose room. Students will continue to have the option of bringing their lunch from home or buying a hot lunch (which will be brought to their room by a staff member).
Chapels
Spiritual development is still a critical part of who we are and what we do! Starting in September, students will participate in chapels either live (on a rotational basis with social distancing in a larger space) or virtually.
Recess & PE
Recess and physical education will continue with new health and safety measures in place; playground equipment will have new cleaning protocols. Only one class will be permitted on the playground at a time, and shared outdoor spaces will be sectioned so classes cannot intermingle.
Activities & Events
Large indoor activities/events will be limited during this season. If possible, special events may be moved outside (weather permitting) where social distancing can be implemented.
Field Trips
There are no off-campus field trips being planned at this time. Teachers may be conducting virtual field trips in class. Our field trip policy will be reviewed monthly.
After-Care
Please see our 2020-2021 After-Care Program - https://www.dropbox.com/s/5u96ilbb0j5dp84/After%20Care.pdf?dl=0
Cleaning & Safety Measures
Our teachers and aids have always disinfected and sanitized toys/surfaces during the day while children are out of the room, and we will continue to do so more often throughout the day at regular intervals. Regular times will be designated for hand washing (such as: arrival to school, entering the classroom, and before/after meals). Access to hand sanitizers will be provided throughout the day. New, intensified cleaning protocols are in place for classrooms, restrooms, and other shared spaces. Frequently touched surfaces (such as restrooms and doorknobs) will be cleaned throughout the day with an EPA-approved disinfectant. Limitations will be placed on the number of people who can be in restrooms and other shared spaces at the same time.
