Bible   Our last Bible lesson is about the Fruit of the Spirit. I hope everyone practices this over the summer, and always. 🙂 Watch this short video that helps describe the Fruit of the Spirit.  Fruit of the Spirit | Early Childhood Lesson 1   After watching the video talk about each fruit and what your child could do to show love, joy, peace, patience, etc. You can also give examples of behaviors, (good and bad) and ask your child if that behavior shows a Fruit of the Spirit. Kids love this fun song! Fruit of the Spirit Children’s Song  If you have access to a printer, print the Bible coloring page and color it. Practice your Bible verse listed on the coloring page. In your email to your teacher, include that this assignment has been completed. If you were able to print the page, include it in your picture with the other assignments. There is also a color sheet just for fun.          

Reading     Students need to daily for at least 15 minutes.  Please include reading 3-6 pages in their Abeka readers in this time. At the end of the week, choose one book that you have read.  The student will draw a picture to represent the story.  The student will write the title of the book and one sentence about the story. Students, remember when you’re writing a sentence, it begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.  Don’t worry about correct spelling. Write the sounds that you hear in the words and do your best.  Continue to work on your sight word lists and read the readers you have at home. Also, the Abeka Charts 6-8 are now under the kindergarten resources. You can also watch Mrs. Dobins reading the charts in the resources, but it will be a 1st grade video, not a kindergarten one. Math    

Lesson 1– Set up a mini store using empty cereal boxes, candy wrappers, cans etc. Place prices on each item and allow your child to “shop”. Give your child change to use to pay for their purchase.  Remind them how to count pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters (by 1’s, 5’s, 10’s and 25). Keep it simple. Send a pic of your child “shopping” in your weekly email. 

Lesson 2– Complete Spring Time to the Hour worksheet. If you do not have a printer, draw clock faces with sidewalk chalk or on paper and ask your child to write out what time the clock represents. Send a picture of your completed worksheet or what you wrote out in your weekly email to your teacher.

 

Science    

Lesson 1– https://letsfindout.scholastic.com/home-page-logged-out.html  Under the month of May/June select the issue titled “Super Sea Turtle.”  Listen and read the magazine, watch the videos and complete the sight word game. You may also want to do the hands-on sea turtle craft, but it isn’t required. 

Lesson 2– Follow the link https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome/grades-prek-k.html  Go to Week 4, Day 16: Habitats-Oceans. Listen to the two books provided.  Watch the video titled “Ocean of Life.”  Before you watch the video, click the purple tab labeled key words and listen to each vocabulary word and see if you hear them during the video. Next, click the orange tab labeled quiz whiz and complete the quiz. In your email to your teacher, indicated that this assignment has been completed and tell her how many questions you answered correctly on the quiz. You may also want to do the ocean craft but you don’t have to.

Bible     “Happy Mother’s Day this weekend!”  Our Bible lesson this week is about a brave mother in the Bible: Moses’ mother.

You can also read the story of the birth of Moses in Exodus 2:1-10. Discuss how Moses’ mother had to be brave and trust God. You could also talk about examples of other mothers in the Bible that trusted and obeyed God. Jesus’ mother Mary,  Samuel’s mother Hannah, and Isaac’s mother Sarah are all good examples. If you have access to a printer, print the Bible coloring page and color it. Practice your Bible verse listed on the coloring page. In your email to your teacher, include that this assignment has been completed. If you were able to print the page, include it in your picture with the other assignments. Bible     Our Bible lesson comes from Ephesians 6:10-20, the Armor of God.  Watch this video about the Armor of God and discuss the pieces of armor and what they represent:  God’s Story: Armor of God.  Your kiddos will also enjoy this song: Armor of God song. When we aren’t in quarantine and are at school, we march like soldiers and point to the parts of our body that we would wear each piece of armor on as it appears in the song.  If you have access to a printer, print the Bible coloring page and color it. Practice your Bible verse listed on the coloring page. In your email to your teacher, include that this assignment has been completed. If you were able to print the page, include it in your picture with the other assignments. There is also a soldier craft just for fun if your child wants to make it. 🙂

Lesson 2- Complete subtraction worksheets. If you do not have a printer, choose objects like dried beans, paper clips etc to complete the activity. Send a picture of your completed worksheet or the problems you wrote out and completed in your weekly email to your teacher. Play two subtraction games on your ABC Mouse account.

Lesson 2- Play the card game “War” with your child. Deal two cards face up (one to you and one to them) whoever has the largest number wins that round. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the deck wins the game. Discuss greater than, less than and equal as you play.  Send a video or picture to your teacher with your weekly email.
