RCS Opening Plan

Opening August 20th!

REJOICING TOGETHER AGAIN

The Mission of Rejoice Christian School is to train our students in Bible-based Christian principles in partnership with parents and in the establishment of a high-quality academic foundation.

COVID-19 has changed our world. But it hasn’t changed our mission!

While we will proceed with school in-person as planned on August 20, it may look different as we adapt to new protocols to provide safety for our students, staff, and extended RCS family. Our promise is to provide a high-quality educational experience, a nurturing environment, and a biblically-based discipleship plan so that our students will be equipped to spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially impact their community and the world for Christ. As we prepare for a safe return to school, we are committed to remaining well-informed by the federal, state, and local health agencies, as well as medical experts regarding latest information on the pandemic – including recommended safety and sanitization strategies.  We will remain steadfast to our mission to be Christ-centered and mission-focused while maintaining the well-being of our entire on-campus community. We know there are strong views as to what needs to be done globally, nationally, and locally.
In the midst of all our other goals, RCS seeks to be a light in a dark world, a city on a hill (Matthew 5:14-16). We ask our families to live in an understanding way with others who may have different views (1 Cor 8), and to strive for Christian unity.

You can read more details about our plan here. Information will be updated as our plans continue to be refined.

It’s important for the children to be back at school. And, it is equally important for every student, teacher, and staff member to feel cared for and safe. On the following pages, we hope our care for your children is as evident as our mission to educate them.

We are using two tools to clearly communicate and define the details of our response to any changes in the wellness climate.  Because the current situation is both unpredictable and dynamic, we have tried to carefully craft a system that allows for us to respond without causing major shifts in our educational mission and school landscape.

OUR CAMPUSES
On August 20th, our four “campuses” (PreSchool, K5-5th grade, 6th grade, and MSHS) will be open for live, in-class and in-person teaching at LIGHT BLUE, L2 (though that may change if the wellness climate changes). To meet the needs of K5-5th grade students who need to stay at home during this season, we are offering a Rejoice Homeschool program (more information about this program is shared in the K5-5th grade wellness section.)
TEMPERATURE / HEALTH SCREENINGS
Students will have their temperatures taken upon campus arrival with quick, no-touch digital thermometers. Those who have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, or present COVID-19 symptoms, will be sent home to self-isolate, recover, and recuperate. We will be conducting temperature checks for all students when the school is in LIGHT BLUE, GOLD, and YELLOW.
LARGE-GROUP ACTIVITIES
When the school is operating in LIGHT BLUE, large-group, indoor activities will be limited. Large-group activities or events will only occur if social distancing can be employed and/or if the event is outdoors.
FACE COVERINGS or PPE
At LIGHT BLUE, L2, all faculty and staff will be wearing face coverings when indoors. Student requirements for face coverings will be explained under each of the specific campus tabs.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE POLICIES
Due to the potential increases in other illnesses, isolation or quarantine, we will be lenient toward student absenteeism from school. We will work with students and families to make-up missing work.
ATHLETICS
Our Athletic Department will be working within the guidelines presented by their conference, OSSAA, and CDC. Plans for each sport will be presented to parents by their coaches.
FINANCES
With a constantly changing landscape, we are trying to be sensitive to respect the financial commitment families have made to Rejoice for the upcoming academic year. We also understand that families may need to change direction for their students’ educational needs. For BLUE, LIGHT BLUE (all levels), and GOLD, our Handbook Policy states that a 30-day withdrawal notice is in effect. For YELLOW or GRAY, if you need to withdraw your student from Rejoice, the 30-day withdraw notice will be waived.
